Backstory

The basics are pretty simple, really. Krypton, her parents sending her to earth, and being found by Martha and Jonathan Kent. Of course, the world treated her a little differently than it treated Clark and it led to a bit more of a rough and tumble girl. She had a little more anger in her than in her crossuniverse double, not that it wasn't justified. Hearing yourself referred to as the 'weaker' sex when you could lift a tractor can only be borne so many times.

She spent a lot more time with her mother, and that didn't exactly help defuse the anger but it did make her channel it a little differently. As did a number of summers in her maternal grandfather's law library. Her mother showed her how much a body could do when they took the time and the effort to help people on the ground and that was why she went off to college, double majored in philosophy with a journalism minor (what could she say? She loved to write and she kept taking the courses so why not?) with an intention to go to law school. She spent a few years as a public defender, doing her best to protect some of the most vulnerable in society, but an unfortunate alien invasion brought up her heritage and brought "Superwoman" into the spotlight.

She found out quickly that being Superwoman and working a job as intensive as the one she'd taken up did not coexist nicely; when a client she'd been working to help took an ill-advised plea bargain while she was trying to save a bus full of people, she made the decision of her life and left the public defenders office. There was some traveling, some time spent learning about herself and her heritage and figuring out who she wanted to be before she took an offer from Lois Lane to act as the legal adviser for the Planet. Eventually, she started providing editorials and after a year or so, she was acting as a full time reporter, mostly due to the fact that she always seemed to show up at just the right time to catch the scoop.

And Superwoman? Well, she's out there saving lives and fighting evil.

She doesn't wear glasses in or out of costume; instead, 'Superwoman' wears impeccable makeup with bright red lip whereas 'Clara' tends to go entirely without and her hair's always a little messy.
